PrepElite246 Inaugural Volleyball & Life Skills Easter Program Review.

Prep Elite 246 Volleyball & Life Skills Easter Program is a sports-based camp which was created to teach the basic skills of volleyball, utilizing the sport as an avenue to teach life skills such as communication, teamwork, discipline, respect, self-improvement & self control, conflict resolution and other skills. Sport is one of the greatest social skills builder.
The idea was developed to provide an experience that will not only improve the knowledge and abilities in the sport of volleyball but also prepare youth with the understanding and the importance of developing lifelong skills that can be use in their future progression to becoming elite. Whether it be in volleyball or in any other aspect of their lives with aims of continuously improving themselves to develop into productive individuals for the betterment of their communities.
“Sport is on of the greatest social skills builder.”
Before we started our program, our coaches came up with learning objective we wanted to achieve
Our Learning Objectives:
Basic volleyball skills in the areas of passing, setting, spiking, serving and blocking
Ability to communicate clearly with others
Work in a team environment
Have FUN
In an effort to achieve the above some of our memorable activities included a tour to the Barbados Olympic Museum. The only one of its kind in the Eastern Caribbean, gives a glimpse into Barbados’ Olympic History. It houses memorabilia, displays, Olympic mascots, pictures of almost every Barbadian who has ever worn national colours at a Summer Games and much more.

In addition to the tour and in conjunction with the Barbados Orienteering Federation the participants were introduced to Orienteering. Orienteering is a modern international sport that is targeted to everyone. It involves basic map reading skills, the ability to think on your feet, move around in the outdoors by foot, bicycle, wheelchair, horseback, vehicle or any other means. It is a fun scavenger type hunt that includes an educational and physical aspect to it.
Leading up to the ending of our Easter program the participants enjoyed a fun day of games, novel races and relays and an Easter Egg hunt.
