Our 2018 Volleyball & Life Skills Easter Camp got off to a great start on Tuesday April 3rd, 2018 at Pax Hill - Girl Guides Headquarters. New and returning campers got acquainted quickly through 'get to know' icebreaker games and activities. We ran our traditional Easter Egg Hunt which the campers were eager to participate in and were ecstatic to find and return with eggs of varying colours and sizes in their baskets.
Throughout the week, new campers & returning campers were introduce/ re-introduced to the sport of volleyball through basic drills and skills. Campers learn to pass, serve, and overhead volley, and in such a short space of time, many caught on remarkably fast. In addition to volleyball skills, campers enjoyed beginner rugby through touch-tag and netball rugby which was facilitated by members of "Get Into Rugby Barbados".

Last camp, Rugby was a hit (pun intended) with the campers so we had to do it again. The excitement of the game was once again shown through the eagerness and smiles on the faces of the campers as they playfully competed in teams against each other. Throughout the game, movement without the ball, verbal and non-verbal communication, teamwork and sportsmanship were emphasized.

Later in the week, Asha a drama coach from Mustardseed Productions joined us. Campers started off with simple, yet fun games to warm up. Through various acting and drama activities, they learnt the importance of clear communication and annunciation. In between our guests assisting us with making each day interactive and fun, we engaged our campers through many other activities, this week they specifically enjoyed the Easter egg 'Do It Yourself" art session and dance-off challenge against the camp coaches.

We capped off the week with a tour to Beyond Limits Fitness Centre, an "American Ninja Warrior" styled gym. Campers quickly explored the equipment, such as the rock climbing wall, Olympic rings, trampoline, rowing machine, peg wall and many other apparatuses. They definitely had an adventure while exploring fitness. The rock climbing wall was the main attraction for the campers as they competed and challenged each other to complete the wall from start to finish without falling.

To cool down from a fun packed fitness session, we headed over to Chefette Restaurant for ice cream which they enjoyed and still found enough energy to enjoy the juggle gym before it was time to head back to Pax Hill.
